This course explores Britain's Black Cultures and how to be a change agent for EDI and belonging. The University of Edinburgh has a partnership with Santander Universities, an initiative launched in 2022 by Santander Bank to foster sustainability through inclusive and impactful support of the Higher Education Sector. Santander Universities, in partnership with The Open University, have created Union Black: Britain's Black Cultures and Steps to Anti-Racism. The course is freely available and will be accessible to staff and students at UK Universities until 2024. A short trailer for the course can be viewed here. In addition to the full Union Black course, Learners now have the option of a one-hour introductory version of the course entitled ‘Introducing Union Black’, which is designed to introduce learners to some of the concepts and learning experiences in the full Union Black course and help build their confidence as a change agent for equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. All learners will receive a certificate of performance upon completion of Union Black which they can add to their People and Money Learning App Record or share on social media. Learners who complete the introduction course will receive a statement of participation.
