Muslim Staff Network

Welcome to the Muslim Staff Network. We provide a welcoming, safe, supportive, and inclusive space for Muslim staff to connect, build community, and share experiences.

The network also welcomes allies and colleagues who wish to contribute positively to building an inclusive and respectful workplace or who are interested in learning about Muslim cultures, faith, and lived experiences.

  • Provide a supportive and inclusive space for Muslim staff and allies to connect and share experiences.
  • Support professional development through mentoring, networking, and peer-support opportunities for staff at different career stages.
  • Foster a sense of community, belonging, and mutual support.
  • Raise awareness and understanding of Muslim identities, cultures, and practices within the University.
  • Facilitate constructive dialogue around issues affecting Muslim staff, including Islamophobia, representation, and workplace inclusion.
  • Contribute to the University’s wider Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategies and policy consultations.
  • Collaborate with other staff networks and EDI groups where interests and experiences intersect.

Who can join?

Membership is open to:

  • All Muslim staff from across all Schools and Departments regardless of whether their academic, professional services, researchers - all staff are welcome.
  • Allies and colleagues who support the aims of the network


Our activities include:

  • Informal networking gatherings and meetups
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Mentoring and peer-support opportunities to support career development and professional growth
  • Community events such as Ramadan gatherings and Eid celebrations
  • Collaborative events with other Staff Networks, our communities and the University Chaplaincy.
